The tragic news came in around 15:30 Belgian time that there had been an incident whereby 2 or 3 men threw granades at a busy bus stop at St Lambert Liege in the Eastern province of Belgium.
The reason is still unclear why the perpetrators would even do such a disgusting criminal act.
St Lambert Liege is one of the most beautiful and busiest of the Christmas markets in Belgium, offering its winter wonderland atmosphere to thousands of people every day.
The police and emergency services reacted quickly to protect the people and bring this mayhem under control.
So far it is alleged that there are 4 dead and 64 injured in the shooting. One of the fatalities was a 16 year old boy who died on the way to hospital.
One Belgian newspaper confirmed that police identified one of the attackers as Nordine Amrani who later died. He was known by the police as he had previously been sentenced to 58 months in prison for possession of weapons and cultivation of cannabis plants.
People and residents of the area are being told to stay at home. The gunmen who got away are still at large and under no circumstances are they to be approached.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to all those families who have been affected and praise for the police and emergency services who reacted so well in this unforeseen situation.
We pray that the culprits will be caught and brought to justice.
